My Teaching Philosophy

With over a decade of experience in teaching piano, the most important wisdom I acquired is that no two students are the same. Every week, pupils of every age and ilk come to my studio, ranging from preschoolers through seniors. I motivate and inspire every one of them through the language of passion and ambition, guiding them on their unique journeys towards musical maturity .

As a student, I was influenced by charismatic teachers who captivated me with their true passion for pianism and piano repertoire. These pedagogues were demanding, even strict, but at the same time extremely loving, dedicated and generous. Their joy of music and constant dedication both taught me the rewards of hard work and informed my teaching. They remain my greatest inspirations, and I endeavor to give the same gift to my own students.

My goal is to give my students the tools to become independent pianists and thinkers, capable of interpreting any piece of music with the aid of a well-founded technique and sense of style. In my studio, students find an environment of encouragement and support that enables them to grow.

As a teacher, the most important asset I posses is flexibility. When it comes to applying methods to students, it is never a “one size fits all”. For each student I tailor an individual plan of study to fit their specific needs and personality while simultaneously imparting the core principles of musicianship, solid technique and musical expression from the very first lesson.

My studio focuses primarily on pieces from the classical piano repertoire while exploring different musical styles to foster the well-balanced musician of the modern era. The studio presents two recitals at the end of each term both to celebrate students’ achievements throughout the year and to share beautiful music with their family, friends, and community.
